Where it all began..

When Phil was discharged from the Army in 1946, he had saved enough money to purchase 20 acres of land and 14 Hereford–Shorthorn cross heifers. He had always wanted to be a cattleman, and that purchase gave him the opportunity to begin what has now become a third-generation ranching operation. Phil worked various jobs trying to earn extra money to buy more land and more cattle while Genie spent most of her time working at a bank to pay the bills so that Phil and the boys could put the ranch together.
In the late 1960s, a brand inspector commented that Dad’s calves were a little small that year. That comment didn’t sit well with him, so he began studying what he could do to improve the genetics of his herd. After attending a symposium on creating the ultimate beef animal, he learned that adding dairy influence could improve milk production and growth. Brown Swiss were incorporated to increase maternal strength, and Angus bulls were then used on those females.
Everything changed after Dad saw a set of Limousin calves at the National Western Stock Show. His words were, “Those are the best calves I have ever seen. Someday I’ll have a whole herd of them.” and so it began. Which became known as Reynolds Ranch Limousin.
As families grow and times change adjustments have to be made. In the early 2000s Rod and Ric decided to split the cows and Land and help keep their families more involved. And then began Reynolds Land and Cattle. Which now Rod, and his son Troy, work side by side continuing to build the legacy!
